Our FCFMC Junior Festival
FCFMC Junior Festival
The National Federation of Music Clubs Festivals program is designed to promote study, stimulate interest in American and world music literature, and encourage each participant to reach a high standard of musical achievement.
To achieve this goal the Junior Festival is held every February. Students perform two memorized pieces, one of which is composed by an American composer. These pieces are adjudicated and students received points for their performance. The following rating point scale is used:
Superior: 5 points
Excellent: 4 points
Satisfactory: 3 points
Fair: 2 points
Needs improvement: 1 point.
A student will earn a gold cup once 15 points are earned. For 30 points the gold cup increases in size as does the 45 and 60 point cups. Rules and list of required American pieces can be found in the Federation Festival Bulletin.
